Learn About Read For The Record

What is Read for the Record

Jumpstart’s Read for the Record is a national campaign that brings the youth together, along with valued grownups in their lives, to read the same book, on the same day, in communities all over the world. It is design to express the importance of early literacy. This year is was held on October 27, 2022 and with this being the world’s largest shared reading experience, with over 24 million people who have participated in Read for the Record to date, we were very excited in joining in on the fun this year!

What We Read

This year’s book was Nigel and the Moon by author Antwan Eady and illustrated by Gracey Zhang. The purpose of Eady’s story is to both teach kids about how their dreams can come true if they keep working on them and make adults realize how important it is for children to dream big, regardless of their situation. It was great to have the kids take inspiration from his book and enjoy participating in this nationwide celebration.

We have included the link below if you would like to enjoy the story time read along – Nigel and the Moon at home!
